The Hyaluronic Acid Trap
Hyaluronic acid is celebrated for holding up to 1,000 times its weight in water. But the high-molecular HA in standard plumping serums is massive: roughly 1,000 to 1,800 kilodaltons.
Your skin barrier only lets through molecules under about 500 daltons. That's the “500 Dalton rule”, and standard HA is thousands of times bigger.
So it can't get in. It sits on your skin's surface as a film, and in dry air it can pull moisture out of your skin instead of into it. That is the Hyaluronic Acid Trap.
